Rest and peace are pertinent to our progression in our walk with Christ
Pick a Day for a Stopover
As I started to read today’s message, I thought it would be about taking time out to visit someone, but in actuality, it was encouraging us to seize a day and plan to do nothing. Kundtz says, “Chose a day during which you are sure you will have nothing else you must do. Then mark that day on your calendar with a big S for your time of creatively doing nothing.” In 2018 when I worked intently with my life coach, she encouraged me to do the same. I recall at first I was hesitant and unsure of how to make that happen with a husband (at the time) and kids. However, doing so allowed me to get away and be at one with myself and God, and for me to focus on me. Our lives become so consumed with others and other things that we neglect ourselves. It’s time to save-the-date to seize!
Matthew 11:28 reads, “‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’” We are encouraged to rest in Christ. He has given us the knowledge, wisdom, talent, and means to do what He has called us to do in this life, but He also requires us to rest, and not just on the sabbath (which many still don’t oblige). Let us work to be obedient to God and even honor ourselves by choosing to seize a day soon and make it not a habit, but a part of life.
Chosen Scripture:Romans 14:19 KJV
“Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.”
As I enter into Day 7 of the SEEK Fast with Alfred Street Baptist Church, I feel different, I feel a renewal—a restoration. I want to be the best that I can give. I want to share in God’s goodness. I want to continue to be at peace, and I want to continue to build myself up to be the best version of me for others to know and see. SEEK is requiring me to remove things that have been distractions so that I may truly focus on each moment and the people I love. May we look for opportunities to create peace or be the peace for someone else.
Youversion Verse of the Day: Mark 3:24
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
As I read this text I immediately thought about marriages. We cannot serve two masters, and therefore God should always be the head of the house and the center of a marriage. If there is divisiveness, may each seek prayer and guidance. If not, as I encourage others, safe yourself or save your marriage. If you work to save your marriage, you will work together and individually for it’s good. If not, save yourself by praying and seeking God to direct your heart and your path. Remember, on Christ the Solid Rock we stand.
Rest and peace are pertinent to our progression in our walk with Christ, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
