Finally Getting It

“Finally Getting It” is today’s message. The author, David Kundtz, begins with speaking about how he finds it difficult to get across the idea of doing nothing. He says, “I first discovered the resistance to the idea in myself. I continue to discover it in other people as I speak on Stopping.” He continues on saying, “We are just not used to doing nothing. It sounds and feels and seems wrong somehow. We want to fill up the time with something.”

Philippians 4:6 came to mind with today’s focus. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Many times when we feel we have to do something, it’s because we are worried about something, and when we worry we get anxious. It is time for us to be present, and being present for ourselves means to just be.

Matthew 6:31-32 should relieve our desire to always do something for it is written, “‘So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.” What is your understanding of doing nothing? Pray and let go today, then take time to do nothing. Selah.

FMBC Weekly Reading: Genesis 17:1-8

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.” At this, Abram fell face down on the ground. Then God said to him, “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations. I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them! “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God.’”

May we always remember that God keeps His promises. We may not realize them at the time, but we are now living what we once prayed for in our lives. We may not live to experience some of them, but as the descendants of Abraham, our heirs will live to reap and tell of our prayers once prayed.

Youversion Verse of the day: John 9:37-38

“You have seen him,” Jesus said, “and he is speaking to you!” “Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshiped Jesus.

May we know that “something” that we feel inside, and that “something” that we hear, it’s the Lord.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
