May our patience and persistence bring about peace and prosperity

Going to the Post Office

Today’s message is called “Going to the Post Office”, and begins with a line by Henry David Thoreau: “In proportion as our inward life fails, we go constantly and desperately to the post office.” Kundtz begins his message today saying, “I think I know the cause of our cultural, spiritual, and social problems today, just as Thoreau knew 150 years ago. Our inward life is failing.” Today with advanced technology and so many social media platforms, people are spending less and less independent time and more and more engaging time. We are turning to others and things to gain information and being influenced more than we are taking time to ourselves and focus on the knowledge we hold. Kundtz encourages us, “Today, find a way to redirect your trip to the post office to a journey to your inward life.”

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Let us work to use our own thoughts and listen to our hearts and souls, remembering that we should put our trust in the Lord, and He will direct our paths. He will give us a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline, as written in ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬. Remember, you are your greatest asset in this life—trust it and protect it, but most importantly, love it and don’t neglect it.

Weekly Reading

The chapter of focus for this year at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina is Jeremiah. However, weekly scripture is provided for us to consider. This morning’s comes from Job 42:1-17, Finally Job’s penitence and God’s restoration.

Penitence is defined as the action of feeling or showing sorrow and regret for having done wrong; repentance. Restoration in the Bible means the act of returning something or someone to their original state or condition. In verse 10 we read, “So the Lord restored what Job had lost after he prayed for his friends, and the Lord doubled all that had belonged to Job”, and verse 12 continues, “So the Lord blessed the second part of Job’s life more than the first...”. May we know that when we repent and seek our Father with humility, He hears us. Like Job, may we know that our latter days will be greater than our former days, and the best is yet to come.

Youversion verse of the day, Job 3:21

“But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.”

The truth will always overshadow the enemy’s plan; just trust in the Lord, and He will be our vindicator.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈

May our patience and persistence bring about peace and prosperity, my friend.
