Take time to meditate on Him and with Him to hear Him and what He wants for us
Still Hunting
The author begins today by mentioning a book, “Listening to Nature” by Joseph Cornell. He says that in it he describes many ways to deepen your awareness of nature, by still hunting, which is bringing no harm but simply observing nature within its own habitat. Cornell says, “Sit for at least twenty minutes…your experience will be most enjoyable if you free your mind from expectations. Don't expect a caravan of animals to come parading by. Just pay attention to what you do see and hear: busy insects, singing birds, and breezes bringing the trees to life." In this life, we are so occupied with doing instead of being. Technology advancement keeps us busy, many times with things that just take up time and not contribute to productivity or our lives. Or many times we are busy trying to solve or controls things that we cannot solve alone. Still hunting, whether with nature or even in our everyday surroundings can allow us to just be present, observing all that’s free and living around us.
Exodus 14:14 reads, “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still.” Take time throughout the day with God. Invite Him into situations and circumstances that may cause you challenges and frustration, or where you need help with decision making. Give it to Him, and still your mind and body, then watch Him come through for you. He will make ways known for He is all knowing.
FMBC Weekly Reading: Genesis 17:1-8
“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said to him, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless. And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will make you exceedingly numerous.’ Then Abram fell on his face; and God said to him, ‘As for me, this is my covenant with you: You shall be the ancestor of a multitude of nations. No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you the ancestor of a multitude of nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. I will establish my covenant between me and you, and your offspring after you throughout their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. And I will give to you, and to your offspring after you, the land where you are now an alien, all the land of Canaan, for a perpetual holding; and I will be their God.’”
As with Abraham, when we accept Christ, our names change and we become children of Christ, and He bless us abundantly and bless our offspring and circles of influence. He has a covenant to never leave us or forsake us, and to prosper us and not harm us.
Youversion Verse of the Day: John 1:29
The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Let us always be reminded that there is nothing we can do, that will keep God’s love from us.
Take time to meditate on Him and with Him to hear Him and what He wants for us, my friend.🙏🏾💚🦋🌈
