Take time to be enjoying Thee in peace and serenity
Just Sit
In the message “Just Sit” Kundtz speaks about how people who are at ease with themselves are a wonderful gift to the world. They model for us with a power that words can never match. He provides a quote by Satchel Paige associated with it, which says, “Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits.” Satchel Paige is highlighted because he is a model of serenity to the author. He is characterized as follows: “He always had quietness, serenity, and even a sense of slowness about him-even though he was famous for his fastball-almost as if he were always remembering something important, something he didn't want to forget.“
There are a number of people who model serenity in my life, and the ones who come to mind are in the ministry. Their faith can be seen with the calmness and welcoming of their demeanor, and the joy and fullness that is expressed through their words. As an apprentice to them, I know it is important to feed my soul the Word, and to convene with the Father every opportunity I have.
Luke 10:38-41 reads, “As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.’ But the Lord said to her, ‘My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.’”
There is nothing more important than the time spent in the presence of our Father. May we not be consumed with distractions that keep us from focusing in on Him.
FMBC Weekly Reading: St. John 7:34-43 The danger of getting in front of God
“You will search for me but not find me. And you cannot go where I am going.” The Jewish leaders were puzzled by this statement. “Where is he planning to go?” they asked. “Is he thinking of leaving the country and going to the Jews in other lands? Maybe he will even teach the Greeks! What does he mean when he says, ‘You will search for me but not find me,’ and ‘You cannot go where I am going’?” On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)
When the crowds heard him say this, some of them declared, “Surely this man is the Prophet we’ve been expecting.” Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others said, “But he can’t be! Will the Messiah come from Galilee? For the Scriptures clearly state that the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David, in Bethlehem, the village where King David was born.” So the crowd was divided about him.”
May we not be confused about our Father and His presence for He is omnipresent. Therefore is is always with you and me and working through others and situations in our lives to prove His presence and authority, power and concern for our lives.
Youversion Verse of the Day: 1 Chronicles 16:24
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
May we never neglect an opportunity to share of what He has done for us, for we don’t really have the time to share it all or give Him the glory and praise.
Take time to be enjoying Thee in peace and serenity, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
