Our actions can speak louder than words. May we work to ensure they are a reflection of disciples of Christ

Road Rage

In today’s reading “Road Rage”, the author asks, “How can I go from serenity to rage in an instant (because of road rage)?” He goes on to say, “The only answer I can come up with is that the car has become a symbol of so many of the societal frustrations we experience today.” He then goes on to discuss spending time getting to know yourself in your car, and how you want your reaction to be in certain situations. I, however, prefer to respond to situations and not react for there is a difference. Reacting is more immediate, emotional, and instinctive, where responding involves a thoughtful and intentional action based on reasoning and understanding of the situation. Whether you choose to react or respond to situations, as in today’s message, see what you can come up with to restore serenity.

James 1:19-20 came to mind when reading today. It says, “You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger; for your anger does not produce God's righteousness.” Whether in a car, at work, or even in our homes, we don’t always know what another individual is dealing with that may cause abrupt changes or reactions that in someway affect us. However, let us remember this scripture and give grace and mercy as we would want in the same or similar situation.

‭‭FMBC Weekly Reading: St. Luke 24:44-48

The Disciples were charged by Christ Jesus to be witnesses.

“Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”

As with those disciples, we are disciples of Christ. May we, too, must be witnesses, telling of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and how He lived, died, and rose again for you and me and our sins. May we never be ashamed to call on His name.

Youversion Verse of the Day: Exodus 20:8

“Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy.”

Let us not stop at this verse, but continue on for perspective. Verses 9-11 read, “Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it.” Rest is a requirement of our Father; may we oblige in this world of busyness.

Our actions can speak louder than words. May we work to ensure they are a reflection of disciples of Christ, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
