Let our obedience order our opportunities and outlook this day and each day
Thoughts Unsought
We all receive unsought thoughts throughout our days, and as quoted by John Locke, “The thoughts that often come unsought, and, as it were, drop into the mind, are commonly the most valuable of any we have.” The author follows by saying, “I won't attempt to answer the question about where these ideas come from. But let me say something about not missing them when they do come.” At the end of the message we are encouraged to see our quiet moments today as preparation of a welcoming place for valuable thoughts that will just drop in.
Now, I know where unsought thoughts come from; it’s the Holy Spirit moving. For Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” And Isaiah 55:8 says, “‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.’” Our Father leads and guides us, giving us vision so we do and create things to catapult our lives and those we lead and guide. We just have to make time to pray and open up our hearts, being still to receive.
FMBC Weekly Reading: 1 Samuel 15:22-23
“But Samuel replied, ‘What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.’”
I am grateful for this message this morning as I begin Day 2 of the SEEK Fast with Alfred Street Baptist Church. I have been toiling with a matter for a long time, but reading that obedience is better than sacrifice, I am going to resist this situation during my fast to hear God. I want God to be accepting of me and not reject me. May we all analyze our lives and work to be obedient.
Youversion Verse of the Day Psalms 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Lord as we seek to be obedient, may we keep your word at the forefront of all that we think and do to be the best for you.
Let our obedience order our opportunities and outlook this day and each day, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
