William David Thoreau’s quote is highlighted this morning which says, “The wilderness is near as well as dear.” He is known for seeking solitude in the wilderness to produce some of his works. Kundtz says today, “Greenbelts along our rivers, parks in our cities and counties, lake and ocean shores, reservoirs with adjacent park land, trails through woods or forests. All of these are places that can lead us, as Walden did Thoreau, to quietude, to peacefulness, and thus to keeping our priorities clear and our lives on track.” Nature allows us to ground ourselves and be even nearer to our God, for He created heaven and earth. We shall not take for granted what He has naturally placed among us to sit in awe of and observe and be thankful for the opportunity to experience. Let us turn off the busyness of the world and focus in on the simple things that we many times take for granted.
Job 12:7-10 says, “But ask the animals, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.” Let nature be a constant reminder to us, not to worry, but always remember that what God creates, He cares for and will keep.

No matter what each day brings, we should always focus first in Christ, and He will direct us and take care of the rest.

Anytime we are worried, afraid, or uneasy, let us quiet ourselves and seek our Father who will always take our pieces of confusion and issues and provide peace of mind.
