Home from Work

Many of us bring work home and/or don’t bring our best selves home after work. Kundtz says this morning, “In all of today's possible scenarios, there is an important moment to pay attention to: the time when you end work and transition to the remainder of the day— whether that's going to the gym, shopping for dinner, coming home, or all of those.” He encourages us to mark the end of work, and the beginning of your other life, with a Stillpoint. Just yesterday, I paused at 4pm and placed a recurring appointment on my calendar at work, labeling it “Daily Wrap Up”. As Kundtz discusses this morning, our culture has changed where work is consuming of our lives, bleeding over into our personal times and lives. We may not be able to create balance, but it is important for us to develop boundaries.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 reminds us, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” Verses 9 and 12 are critical for us to remember in our careers: “What do we gain by all our hard work? I know the best thing we can do is to always enjoy life…”. Let us not just be consumed with work, but let us literally plan to enjoy life as we plan work, for tomorrow is not promised. What are you doing to enjoy yourself and those you love this day?

FMBC Weekly Reading: St. Mark 12:1-11, Greed is a major hindrance in respecting the sacrifice of Jesus Christ

“And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard. And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled. And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some. Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be our's. And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What shall therefore the Lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected Is become the head of the corner: This was the Lord's doing, And it is marvellous in our eyes?”

‭‭Let us not ignore God’s attempts to nurture a relationship with us by being so consumed with temporary things. His love and blessings are limitless and last for eternity.

Youversion Verse of the Day: Isaiah 54:17

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

As we walk with Christ and lead with Christ, nothing will be able to prevent what He has and is preparing for us.

Christ is in you and with you, so don’t neglect you, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
